Get Started on the Final PortfolioFriendly reminder that I am in Alabama, so we are doing an online version of class today.
In Blackboard under the Week 14 & 15 Folder you'll find all the information you need to know about the Final Portfolio. Read over the instructions and start looking at and drafting your Reflective Overview. **THE TEMPLATE FOR THE REFLECTIVE OVERVIEW IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE YOU COMPLETED FOR MIDTERM** Final Portfolios are due Friday, December 6th. HOWEVER -- it is not something you should be doing overnight and you really need to start working on it this week! As "credit" for class today I want you to do like we did with the Midterm Portfolio and go ahead and create your Final Portfolio Folder and submit the link in the submission comment box in Blackboard. Have a great Thanksgiving and see you next week! Compinar Symposium Run ThroughRemember that you are meeting with Professor Johnson and I to discuss your FYS Presentation and to show us your poster board!
First-Year Symposium is Friday -- be ready for it! Rewrite and ReviseToday I want you to look at the peer review your peers left for you on your Magazine Article and your Memo. Then, rewrite and revise, using the peer review to help you in the revision process.
Submit, as a reply to your original thread, your NEW DRAFT as a PDF or Word Document. This is due at the end of today! Memo Peer ReviewUse the early drafts peer review questions (in Blackboard) to help you as you read over two of your peer's Memo drafts. You need to make sure that EACH person from your group discusses DIFFERENT groups memos. Because of the size of groups some members will have to double dip, but I DO NOT want all people in the group to read over and provide feedback to the SAME TWO groups!
Remember that you are NOT focusing on your peer's grammar. You're focusing on making sure that your peers are meeting the needs of the audience, topic, and purpose. Productive peer review will include following the peer review guidelines AND providing feedback that is more than just saying "good job" or "I like this". Your feedback is due by the end of today! Don't forget that you also have Week 12 Reading Homework due Sunday! Magazine Article Peer ReviewUse the early drafts peer review questions (in Blackboard) to help you as you read over two of your peer's Magazine Article drafts. You need to make sure that EACH person from your group discusses DIFFERENT groups proposals. Because of the size of groups some members will have to double dip, but I DO NOT want all people in the group to read over and provide feedback to the SAME TWO groups!
